Has anybody tried to call the Obama-care national call center hotline? the phone number is -800-318-2596, or if you spell it out.... 1-800-3FuckYo. Which, no matter what your views on it, you have to admit the roll-0ut is a complete disaster.

that spell-out is hilarious, in an ominous way.

I find it funny that people expected this to go off without a hitch. You have an entire country of possible website hits, all expected to come in over a very short period of time. It's not surprising to me in the least that websites went down.

Pent up demand will tend to do that. People have until December to sign up though, so it will all work out once the initial crush of people signing up slacks a bit.

No it's not. 1 has no letter assignment on a phone keypad. Now 1-800-F1UCK-YO on the other hand...

Not really an entire country. Some states have their own exchanges, such as Oregon

exactly, This felt a little weird. Look here for actual combos

A lot of states do have their own exchanges. Being the big central location for ACA information though; they should've seen the hits coming.
Also even state-run exchanges were not built to handle the traffic. Many of them (my own - Colorado - included) went down as well.

The private sector would have got it off without a hitch, I mean look at all the game servers that manage to handle millions of players all trying to get online on release days! Never a problem there, not one.

I'm not trying to make a private vs public comparison here
That would just be dumb
On the comparison note though: When game servers can't handle the traffic, people bitch to other people. When ACA sites couldn't handle the traffic, we had pundits screaming at the top of their lungs "LOOK AT WHAT A MONUMENTAL FAILURE THIS IS!" And crying for a complete shutdown of the system because of an obviously (to me) forseeable outcome.

I know you wern't, everyone is far too mature, but I wanted to make the point before someone did decide to jump in with a baseless free market always wins argument.
Pundits are just as bad as politicians. They get paid to be as emotional and irrational as possible, and especially if they can advocate against something like this there's lots of consultancy and PR work they can do for the multi-billion dollar private healthcare industry. Which lets not forget, Obamacare is just subsidizing this current system. They win either way, but they'd rather win by billions than millions.

My state exchange links you to the national one. Local TV guy spent over 2 hours on it and got nowhere. I deal with insurance for a living.
There has already been a breach of security with the site. Personal info on 2400+ has been compromised. Info includes SSN and other info.
My advice is do not attempt to do anything until they get it figured out. No background checks have been done on any of the personnel that are in charge of it.
Thankfully I can stay with my current insurance. Better and a lot cheaper. Ofrickingbamacare is a total disaster.

Can we stop calling it Obamacare now? It's contributing to a negative view on the actual thing. Just call it by it's name: Affordable Care Act.
